Natalie Karl

Natalie Karl was born in San Remo/Italy.

After her studies at Stuttgart University and winning several prizes at international singing competitions, the Cologne Opera became her musical home for many years.
Her large repertoire included Susanna (Nozze di Figaro), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gilda (Rigoletto), Rosina (Barbiere di Siviglia), Ännchen (Freischütz), Musetta (Bohème), Blonde (Entführung), Adele (Fledermaus).

She has performed at other major opera houses like Staatsoper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Semperoper Dresden, Volksoper Wien, Stuttgart, Monte Carlo, Paris Opéra, Parma, Bologna, Verona and at Hongkong Arts Festival.

She works with directors like Günter Krämer, Robert Carsen, Marco Arturo Marelli, Andreas Homoki, Calixto Bieto and conductors like Kirill Petrenko, Christoph Eschenbach, Jeffrey Tate and Stefan Soltesz. Her collaborations with James Conlon resulted in CD-productions of Zemlinsky/Zwerg&Traumgörge and Alban Berg/Lulu-Suite. She also recorded a CD with arias of Johann Strauss, Adele in Fledermaus lead by Gustav Kuhn and the operette album “Die Welt ist himmelblau” with her husband, the tenor Matthias Klink.
She sings concerts and recitals at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Philharmonie Essen, Palau de la Musica Barcelona, Royal Albert Hall London.

Natalie Karl now sings the great lyric repertoire. Rosalinde (Fledermaus), Corinna (Viaggio a Reims), Mimi (Bohème), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Rossini-Stabat Mater, Mahler-Das Klagende Lied and Verdi-Requiem.

She had her Desdemona-Debut (Otello) at Oper Köln with Will Humburg and sang it again with Frank Beermann in Chemnitz, did Rosalinde at Semperoper Dresden and Weill-Seven deadly sins in Mexico City (Jan Latham-Koenig), Rosalinde & Alice Ford (Falstaff) in Köln, Amelia (Simon Boccanegra) in Darmstadt (Will Humburg), Blume von Hawai and Hänsel & Gretel in Stuttgart.

Projects include Jenny in a new Mahagonny-production in Bonn (Dirk Kaftan) and various concerts with her husband Matthias Klink.
